NEW BRITAIN, April 5, 2017 –Members of Family Promise of Central Connecticut will hold the group’s 1st Annual Spring Fundraiser, titled “Home Sweet Hope,” Saturday, April 29 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington.
Family Promise of Central Connecticut (FPCC) is a partnership between congregations, volunteers and social service agencies that helps families with children secure affordable housing. The event will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the church, located at 183 Church Street, Newington, Connecticut.
“It’s going to be a wonderful evening filled with music provided by local musical groups, a silent auction and delicious desserts,” explains Executive Director Don Carlson.
The New Britain-based affiliate is comprised of 10 “host” congregations that provide homeless families with safe, “homelike” overnight accommodations for a week at a time, four times per year. Seven “support” congregations provide additional volunteer assistance. Last month, Family Promise opened its Day Center, located at 40 Cornelius Way in New Brain. There, during the day, family members have access to computers, receive individual case management, and are educated in the home and job search process.
Tickets for the event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. They can be purchased by calling the Day Center at (860) 259-5649.
